Online retailer Gilt Groupe opens new DC in Kentucky

New York City Online luxury retailer Gilt Groupe announced that it has opened a distribution center in Shepherdsville, Ky.

"This move to Louisville gives us an opportunity to introduce new technology and material handling infrastructure to improve our customer service," said Christopher Halkyard, VP operations, Gilt Groupe. "Use of robotics, conveyor systems and mechanical sortation equipment will assist us as we convert to a best in class fulfillment operation. We are confident we will find an employee base of talented men and women."

Gilt Groupe has hired Quiet Logistics as its fulfillment company for this center.  Quiet's responsibilities include the hiring and management of the warehouse staff.
