Omnichannel exec joins Kurt Salmon

10/14/2013

Management consulting firm Kurt Salmon has named Deanna Emsley as a partner in the firm’s Retail and Consumer Products Group.

Emsley has nearly 25 years of experience in retail, specializing in planning, forecasting, distribution and omnichannel. She has worked as a consultant and in-house for top-tier brands, including Williams-Sonoma and Abercrombie & Fitch.

"My broad retail background both as a consultant and in-house will help me understand our clients' frame of reference because I personally understand the difficulties they face, particularly in implementing omnichannel solutions," said Emsley. "Omnichannel strategy impacts every decision every retailer makes now, and I look forward to providing these solutions for our clients."

Prior to joining Kurt Salmon, Emsley was SVP of inventory management and corporate strategy for women's clothing and accessories retailer Coldwater Creek, where she was responsible for sales, margin and inventory plans for all channels. During her time at the women's clothing and accessories retailer, she made significant improvements to its inventory management by completely reengineering its planning processes and systems. Emsley also worked for Oracle as a senior delivery director of planning, supply chain and optimization in its retail global business unit.

"Deanna is particularly valuable to our clients because, as a former omnichannel retail executive, she herself has confronted, and solved, the issues retailers face in today's rapidly changing environment," said Madison Riley, Kurt Salmon's managing partner in North America. "We are very excited to welcome her to the Kurt Salmon team."

For more than 75 years, Kurt Salmon has been an adviser to leaders of the retail and consumer products sector. The firm works with 30 of the world's top 50 — and all of the top five — retailers, global and specialty brands, and top-tier suppliers and vendors.
