OfficeMax to Close Mini Chicago Stores
Naperville, Ill. OfficeMax Inc. announced Thursday it is closing its three OfficeMax Express stores in the Chicago Loop, ending an experiment to quickly deliver office supplies to time-pressed business owners. The company had called the concept a “new future growth vehicle” when the first express store opened in November 2003. The third location opened nearly two years later.
Ranging in size from 2,500 to 3,000 sq. ft., the stores focused on smaller items, but promised one-day delivery of larger products from full-size stores.
