Office Depot names business solutions head

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. Office Depot announced today that Steven Schmidt has joined the company as the president of the North American business solutions division. Schmidt succeeds Cindy Campbell, who has served as evp of the business solutions division since 2003. Campbell will continue as an evp until her planned retirement in March 2008. Schmidt joins Office Depot from ACNielsen Corp., where he spent 12 years in senior management roles, most recently as president and ceo. Prior to ACNielsen, Steve spent eight years at Pillsbury Food Co., serving as the company's president of Canada and Southeast Asia. He also held management positions at PepsiCo and Procter & Gamble.
