Office Depot expands ‘customer science’ commitment


Retail success is based on a blend of art and science. Office Depot is such an advocate that it is expanding its use of customer insights and dedication to customer science.

Office Depot teamed up with customer science and analysis provider dunnhumby to drive its customer engagement and loyalty efforts. Following a year-long partnership, Office Depot has become a disciple of customer science, or applying customer data analysis to create better shopping experiences, simply by knowing and responding to its customers’ behavior and trends.

Office Depot has made such strides with how it uses its customer insights that the office supplies chain is extending its partnership with dunnhumby. “We are committed to helping our customers by providing the best experience possible, and [customer science] has assisted us in delivering the most value for them,” said Ron Lalla, executive VP of merchandising, Office Depot. “We are looking forward to further leveraging data-driven customer science in our Office Depot and OfficeMax retail stores and online.”
