Office Depot exec joins top product tester

TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, named former Office Depot executive Guillermo Rodriguez to the role of vp North America Retail Management.



In his new role, Rodriguez will lead the development, management and expansion of services to support the North American retail market. Rodriguez comes to TÜV Rheinland with more than 17 years of experience in managing and improving global sourcing, product development, and quality engineering operations of consumer products spanning various fields: from technology and electrical products to office supplies, furniture and home improvement.



He most recently served as director of private brand manufacturing, quality and product engineering, at Office Depot/Office Max where he was responsible for private brand supplier’s product quality, product engineering and customer service operations both in the U.S. and China. During his nine-year tenure at Office Depot, Rodriguez was responsible for the supply chain warehousing optimization, product safety and legal process support, packaging engineering and execution of the social compliance program for direct import vendors. Before that, Rodriguez served as senior manager of product engineering at Home Depot.



TÜV Rheinland’s Retail Management Group offers a certification program specifically for the retail supply chains serving North American markets. Retail Management establishes product-specific test protocols according to the industry standards, government regulations, and consumer preferences for durability, usability, functionality, environmental impact, and safety.
