ODP to educate business owners on disaster preparedness

6/16/2008

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. Office Depot is joining National Hurricane Center director William Read and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce on June 17 to educate South Florida business owners on the importance of disaster preparedness.

Businesses and individuals throughout South Florida are keenly aware of the need for disaster preparedness plans particularly as we enter Hurricane Season but this awareness doesnt always translate into action, said Tom Serio, director of global business continuity for Office Depot. We want to reinforce that there are a number of simple and affordable ways that businesses can prepare, especially since disruption events can happen any time.

Serio will join with Read to address small business owners at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerces Business Continuity & Hurricane Outlook 2008 forum on June 17 in Miami. Serio will speak on how small businesses can effectively respond to a crisis and protect their most irreplaceable assets: their employees and their data. Read will provide the Greater Miami Chamber with a 2008 Hurricane Season outlook that will also feature an interactive question and answer session.
