Nothing but love for Amazon
There is a euphoria surrounding Amazon and the moves the company is making these days that is reminiscent of the phase Walmart went through in earlier decades when it was viewed as the ascendant growth company that could do no wrong. Supercenter expansion was rampant and Walmart was viewed as the company that was going to dominate everything it touched.
These days that distinction falls to Amazon.com and founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. Walmart has earned some favorable coverage of late for a re-invigorated digital effort, but it pales in comparison to the glowing coverage reserved for Amazon and the walk-on-water treatment Bezos receives. Much of it is deserved because the company is having a profound impact on retail just as Walmart did, but even fans of the company would have to agree that a piece by Fast Company this week took the cheerleading to a new level.
