Norman to retire as Bernhardt Furniture vice chairman

LENOIR, N.C. Lewis Norman, of Bernhardt Furniture, will retire as vice chairman of the company at the end of the year.

Norman, who worked for Bernhardt for 45 years, will continue to serve the company as a director and consultant.

“I will not even attempt to describe what Lewis has contributed to this company, this community and to me personally throughout the 45 years we have been so closely and loyally committed to each (other),” said Alex Bernhardt, who now serves as chairman of the company. “His skill and knowledge of his trade are surpassed only by his leadership ability, which is always tempered by his personal and compassionate touch with people.”
