Nordstrom testing curbside pick-up

5/1/2015

Seattle – Curbside pickup is easy, and so is texting. Combine them, and you have the supreme convenience of a new service Nordstrom is piloting in 20 stores, including its flagship in downtown Seattle, according to various media reports.

Nordstrom has provided in-store pickup of online items since 2008. But the new service allows customers to order purchases online, and then text or call ahead of time so a store associate is already waiting on the curb when the customer arrives. (The customer also has the option of having the shipped to their home.)

“We’re trying to making shopping more convenient,” said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores at Nordstrom, in an interview with the Puget Sound Business Journal. “In the past we’ve made people come all the way up to the back of the third floor.”

Nordstrom also plans to pilot the service for men’s alterations.
