New stores offer innovations

3/9/2009

Last week was a busy one for Target, as the company opened 27 new stores that pushed its nationwide store count to nearly 1,700 units. The stores included 21 conventional Target discount stores, including the first two units in Hawaii, as well as six SuperTarget locations with full fresh departments. We were unable to get to Hawaii for openings in Honolulu and Kapolei, but Florida in March isn’t bad, so Target News Now visited the new SuperTarget in the Orlando suburb of Kissimee. Click here to check out the store and some of the merchandising changes. Other SuperTarget stores opened in Allen, Lewisville and Pflugerville, Tx, Canton, Ga. and Hillside, Ill.

Texas was also home to three new discount stores as units opened in San Antonio, San Marco and Houston. Three discount stores also opened in the Ohio communities of Reynoldsburg, Lebanon and Cincinnati. Two new stores also opened in Philadelphia and Exton, Pa. The remaining discounts stores were spread among communities nationwide including, Santa Clarita, Ca., Pensacola, Fla., Bethlehem, Ga. Council Bluffs, Ia., Las Vegas, Paramus, N.J., Broken Arrow, Ok., Midlothian, Va. and Sun Prairie, Wis.
