New Senior Managers at A&P

Montvale, N.J., The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) named John Metzger to the new position of executive VP. Since joining A&P in 1999, Metzger has directed the chain’s supply, logistics and technology operations. In addition to those functions, he now assumes responsibility for real estate, design and construction.

In other appointments, Brenda Galgano will become senior VP and CFO. Galgano, who has been controller of the chain since 2002, will succeed Mitchell P. Goldstein, who will leave the company after a transitional period.

The moves follow the appointment of Eric Claus as president and CEO in late July. Claus was formerly president of A&P Canada.
