New creative voice at Bill Blass

The Bill Blass brand is in for a breath of fresh air with the arrival of celebrated designer Chris Benz as new creative director.

Reporting directly to Stuart Goldblatt, Bill Blass’ newly appointed president and CEO, Benz will be responsible for the overall creative direction of the company.

Benz brings to Bill Blass years of experience in the fashion industry, including designing for Mark Jacobs and J.Crew, as well as his own collection CHRIS BENZ, launched in 2007.

“Chris’ modern design aesthetic, understanding and connection to today’s woman will be instrumental in reimagining Bill Blass into a 21st Century brand,” said Goldblatt. “We are excited to welcome Chris to the Bill Blass team. His proven talent will lead the brand into its next phase as we look to build on the significant heritage and influence Bill Blass brought to the industry.”

Benz’ career is decorated with many industry awards, including being honored by Forbes’ Under 30 and trend forecaster WGSN. Benz was also recognized with the “Emerging Designer Award” from the Council of Fashion Designer of America (CDFA), while he was attending Parsons School of Design in 2004.

“Bill Blass is a brand that I have forever admired and have deep respect for as an original American designer,” said Benz. “I am thrilled to introduce this esteemed brand to the next generation.”
