As Sears Holdings continues to struggle, the chain has once again updated is restructuring plan.
The embattled retailer has added 72 more stores to its list of upcoming closures. This is in addition to more than 180 closings that it already an-nounced, according to
Business Insider. According to the report, the department store chain released a list inter-nally of the additional stores set to close, which include 16 Sears stores, 49 Kmart stores, and seven auto centers. Most of the locations are set to close in September.
These closures are on top of an update Sears made to its restructuring plan in April. At that time, the chain said it would close 50 auto centers and 92 underperforming pharmacy operations in certain Kmart stores. Sears also said it expected to reduce costs by $1.25 billion for the year, up from a previously announced $1 billion.
The new closures will bring the department store chain’s store fleet to ap-proximately 1,200 locations. This is down from 2,073 stores five years ago, according to
Business Insider.
