Mobile marketplace Zupa launches
San Francisco - Zupa, a mobile marketplace where members buy and sell directly within the app from a user generated community of merchandise, launches today for iPhone and iPod Touch on the App Store. Shipping is calculated automatically and shipping labels are sent to users in an instant.
Customers can follow their friends to personalize their feed or shop by categories. Shoppers store their credit card and shipping details in their account, so instead of a traditional shopping cart, every purchase is made with a tap of the "Buy now" button and the seller ships the order directly to the buyer. Payments are held in escrow until the buyer receives the item.
Zupa places a list of unique items at a shopper's fingertips from a rare pair of shoes, electronics to books, and sporting goods. Users on Zupa are adding more merchandise to the service daily, with a many new items posted every week. Users control what products to post, when to post, and how much their item will be listed for. In Zupa posts can be liked, shared, commented on, searched for, and added to wishlists.
As a marketplace, Zupa holds no inventory. Instead, Zupa's new marketplace platform allows users to create a seamless mobile consumer-to-consumer experience.
"Consumers need a better way to buy and sell items, one that doesn't involve meeting strangers in public places with cash in hand or getting outbid on an online purchase at the last second," said Tav Shande, co-founder and CEO. "Zupa is a truly unique marketplace experience for both buyers and sellers that makes going shopping on your phone delightful and exciting while making selling items as simple as posting a photo."
