Mizrahi leaves Target for Claiborne


MINNEAPOLIS and NEW YORK Isaac Mizrahi is ending his long-time relationship with Target to become creative director for the Liz Claiborne brand.

As creative director for Liz Claiborne, Mizrahi will oversee the design and marketing functions for women's apparel, accessories and licensing. His first collection for Liz Claiborne will arrive in stores in spring 2009, the company reported.

Mizrahi began his partnership with Target in 2003 with the launch of a line of women’s apparel, accessories and shoes. The line will continue to be available exclusively in select Target stores and at through the end of 2008, Target reported.

“Target has been a fabulous partner for the past five years, allowing me to make my designs available to every woman, everywhere. Together we built an amazing business and trail-blazed the hi/low fashion concept. I am now looking forward to this new opportunity with Liz Claiborne Inc.” said Mizrahi.
