Metro selects POS application
Montreal Canadian grocer Metro announced that it has selected Toronto-based Sweda as its point-of-sale solutions provider.
Metro and Sweda previously completed a successful pilot installation and began implementation across the supermarket chain in July 2008. Many Metro and Super C stores have already been converted and all of the remaining stores in Quebec will be fully converted before the end of fiscal 2009.
Metro operates nearly 600 food stores under several banners including Metro, Metro Plus, Super C and Food Basics, as well as over 250 pharmacies under the Brunet, Clini Plus, The Pharmacy and Drug Basics banners.
The solution, SwedaMart, is an open-standards, hardware and operating-system independent POS solution with rich functions and features. SwedaMart offers an advanced and flexible promotion module that can help retailers implement loyalty strategies and promotional pricing programs.
