Meijer head says innovation is key
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Mark Murray, president of Meijer, Thursday spoke of the importance of innovation at a luncheon for the Battle Creek Econimic Club at the Battle Creek Country Club in Michigan, according to reports.
Murray talked about growing competition and the necessity of exploring different areas, such as organics, reports indicated. In addition, he spoke about how satisfying the needs of Meijer's customers helps his company compete with the likes of Wal-Mart.
According to reports, Murray also detailed plans for his company's growth in Michigan, saying that the company plans to invest about $125 million this year in store construction and remodels.
