McMillon offers digital insights at Re/code event
Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon was among the dozens of high-profile business executives from the world of technology who participated in the inaugural Code Conference this week. Organizers of the event, which cost $6,500 to attend, made available a brief video of McMillon’s comments on a wide range of topics.
Walmart’s inclusion on the agenda highlights how far the company has come in the past few years in terms of its status in the technology world. McMillion was a featured speaker along with notables such as Google co-founder Sergey Brin, new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
Walmart is eager to be viewed as a player in the tech world — it has more than 2,000 employees based in the San Francisco area and completed 13 acquisition during the past three years — and being part of events such as The Code Conference helps the company accomplish that objective.
