Marcy Syms to receive leadership award

NEW YORK Marcy Syms, ceo of SYMS Corp., will be awarded the Lewis Rudin Medal for Civic Leadership on May 21 at the Coro New York Leadership Center’s Annual Gala Dinner.

The Rudin Medal recognizes New Yorkers who have made outstanding contributions to civic life in the five boroughs.

“Marcy Syms epitomizes the spirit of the Rudin Medal,” says Jonathan Plutzik, board chairman of the Coro New York Leadership Center. “She has been one of New York’s most dynamic leaders in both the private and public sectors for many years, to the benefit of countless New York students, patients, citizens – and educated consumers! We are delighted to be able to award her with this honor.”

Since 1983, Syms has headed the company founded by her father Sy Syms in 1958.
