Macy’s to Shutter Nine Stores
Macy’s said Friday it plans to close nine underperforming locations.
The stores are located in Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. They were all acquired when Macy's bought department store operator May Co. in 2005.
"While the decision to close stores is difficult, it is necessary that we do so selectively in locations with declining sales and where we have been unable to identify sufficient growth opportunities," Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren said. "At the same time, we continue to open new Macy's store locations in communities where we believe we can operate successfully."
