Macy's board elects senior vp, property development
CINCINNATI Macy's Inc.'s board of directors announced that it has elected Amy Hanson to take on the post of senior vp for property development. Hanson will report to vice chair Tom Cole.
In her new role, Hanson will be responsible for overseeing store design and construction, real estate, energy services, sustainability, licensed operations, non-merchandise purchasing and foodservice, as well as other corporate-level functions.
"Amy is an outstanding leader with well-rounded experience in key business operations functions and a thorough understanding of our company's strategies," stated Cole. "Going forward, she will guide our progress in improving the shopping experience for our customers and in operating more efficiently.
"In addition," continued Cole, "Amy's oversight of areas such as store construction, energy services and purchasing will allow our company to pursue a more holistic implementation of objectives and principles related to sustainability and sensitivity to the environment."
Hanson previously served as vice chairman and director of stores at Macy's North, based in Minneapolis, and led the transition as Macy's North was consolidated into the Macy's East division this spring. Prior to that she served as president of Macy's The FACS Group division, known as Macy's Credit and Customer Services. Hanson began working at Macy's Inc. in 1983.
