Macy’s Announces Three New Bloomingdale’s Stores
Cincinnati Macy's Inc. said it will open three Bloomingdale's stores in California and Washington, D.C., as the company expands its small-store concept outside New York City.
Stores in Santa Monica, Calif., and Washington, D.C., will feature the company's new smaller format pioneered by the company's site in the SoHo neighborhood of lower Manhattan.
The Santa Monica store, which is being remodeled from an existing Macy's store, is expected to open in 2010 and the Washington site is expected to open the following year.
Meanwhile, the retailer plans to open a standard-format location in 2011 in San Jose, Calif.
Bloomingdale's currently operates 40 stores in 12 states.
