Lowe's spent $65,000 lobbying in Q4
New York City Lowe's Cos. spent $65,000 in the fourth quarter to lobby the federal government on tariff suspension for imported ceiling fans and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
That is 8% more than the $60,000 it spent in third quarter 2009. Lowe's also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving tax credits for WaterSense energy-efficient products, combating organized retail crime, a credit-card interchange fee, and promoting carbon monoxide detectors in homes to reduce deaths, among other issues.
In the October-to-December period, Lowe's lobbied Congress, the Office of the Federal Trade Commission, the Justice Department, Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision according to the report filed with the House clerk's office.
