Lowe's to build new Southeast flatbed DC

11/12/2007

MOORESVILLE, N.C. Lowe's today announced that it is building a new flatbed distribution center in Purvis, Miss., which will supply products to more than 60 Lowe's retail stores in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida. The facility represents an investment of about $15 million for the company.

According to Lowe's, the 200,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin shipping operations in the middle of next year and will initially employ about 35 people.

"Flatbed distribution centers play a vital role in the state-of-the-art distribution network that keeps Lowe's stores supplied with the products our customers need," said Mike Mabry, Lowe's evp of logistics and distribution.  "The outstanding workforce in Lamar County, support for this project at both the local and state level, and the proximity to Lowe's growing store base in the Southeast made this location a win-win solution in helping us continue to meet our goals to better serve our customers."
