Longs June sales up 3.5%

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Longs Drug Stores today reported preliminary total retail drug store sales from continuing operations of $464 million for the five-week period ended June 28, an increase of 3.5% from $448 million in the comparable period a year ago. Same-store sales rose 1.3%.

For the nine-week period, Longs reported total sales of $837 million, up 2.9% from last year, and a same-store sales increase of 0.7%.

Total sales for the year-to-date period rose 4.5% to $2.1 billion. Total same-store sales for this period were up 1.5%.
