Longs Drug Stores Sept. sales up 3.5%

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Longs Drug Stores today reported that total retail drug store sales for the five-week period ended Sept. 27 increased 3.5% to $447 million from $432 million in the comparable period a year ago.

                                The company reported a 1.6% increase in same-store sales for September. Front-end same-store sales were up 1.9%. Total same-store sales for the month increased by 1.8%.
