Longs Drug reports 0.7% Dec. sales increase

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Longs Drug Stores today reported preliminary total retail drug store sales from continuing operations of $529 million for the five-week period ended Dec. 27, an increase of 0.7% from $526 million in the comparable period a year ago.

For the month of December, the company reported pharmacy same-store sales rose 0.2%. Front-end same-store sales were down 2.8%. Total same-store sales for the month were down 1.5%.
