Liz Claiborne namesake dies at 78

NEW YORK Liz Claiborne, founder of her namesake U.S. company, Liz Claiborne Inc., passed away on Tuesday at the age of 78. The cause of death has not been released to the public.

Claiborne began her company with her husband, Art Ortenberg, in 1976. She retired from the company in 1989.
