Leadership changes at Hibbett

9/30/2014

Hibbett Sports has promoted Jared Briskin to SVP and chief merchant. Briskin replaces Rebecca Jones, who left the company this week.

“Jared is a seasoned sporting goods merchant with more than 16 years of experience with the company, starting as a buyer and progressing to VP divisional merchandise manager of footwear and equipment,” said president and CEO Jeff Rosenthal. “He is highly respected within the industry and vendor community, and has had responsibility for all areas of merchandising during his tenure with Hibbett. For these reasons, we expect a smooth transition of Jared into his new role.”

The company offered no additional details regarding Jones’ departure. Prior to being elevated to SVP of merchandising, marketing and logistics, Jones served as SVP of merchandising and marketing since November 2009. She served as VP of merchandising since August 2009. Prior to Hibbett, Jones was at Jo-Ann in 2003. She served as VP/divisional merchandise manager at Walmart from 1999 to 2003. She began her retail career at Fred Meyer Stores in 1982, serving in various operations, planning, buying and merchandising positions, including VP/divisional merchandise manager from 1997 to 1999.

Hibbett Sports operates sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets, predominately in the South, Southwest, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions of the United States. The company’s primary store format is Hibbett Sports, a 5,000-sq.-ft. store located in strip centers and enclosed malls.
