Largest Wal-Mart Supercenter To Date

New York City Wal-Mart Stores will open its largest Supercenter to date, at Crossgates Commons in Albany, N.Y. The two-level, 259,650-sq.-ft. store will have a grand opening in May, according to The Business Review (Albany).

A specially built escalator transports shopping carts, depositing them on the floor just seconds after customers step off an adjacent, traditional escalator, said Philip Serghini, a company spokesman.

Part of the store was once a Sam’s Club that closed in May 2006. Since a Wal-Mart was adjacent to the Sam's Club, the company decided to combine the two spaces into one large Supercenter.
