Kroger Workers Approve New Contract

11/8/2007

Cincinnati, Alast-minute agreement brokered by Kroger Co. and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1099 was approved Wednesday by its members, according to the Business Courier.

The deal was approved by more than 80% of those voting, the union said.

The two sides reached a tentative agreement on Nov. 1, less than an hour before a contract extension was to expire, triggering a walkout by 11,000 Kroger workers at 77 Tri-State stores.

The contract doesn't include any benefits cuts, the union said on its Web site.
