Kroger expands click & collect

10/27/2015

Kroger customers who don’t have time to do their own shopping have another option.

At its investor meeting, Kroger officially announced the name of its click & collect program – “ClickList.” Click & collect lets customers select (and in many cases pay) for groceries online. Store employees then gather the items off store shelves for convenient customer pickup.

The name ClickList has been used informally for several months. Kroger launched click & collect at one store in May, but since then has expanded it to 19 stores in four markets. The retailer also announced it would add Nashville as its fifth market, and will add other unspecified stores and markets in the coming months.

Harris Teeter, which Kroger acquired in January 2014, already had an established click & collect service. The chain continues to operate its separate service, called Express Lane. Kroger said that it has learned about how to operate click & collect by observing Harris Teeter.

“We’ve learned that the customer loves being able to decide when to pick it up, and Harris Teeter gave us that insight,” said Rodney McMullen, CEO of Kroger, at the investor conference.
