Kroger 2Q Profit Rises

Cincinnati, The Kroger Co. said Tuesday its second-quarter earnings rose 28%, and boosted guidance for the full year. Net income for the quarter ended Aug. 18 rose to $267.3 million from $209 million in the year-ago quarter.

Revenue rose 7% to $16.14 billion from $15.14 billion last year, while same-store sales grew 5.8% including fuel, and 5.1% excluding fuel.
