Sears, Kohl's and The Home Depot are among the retailers that have earned 2016 Energy Star awards from the EPA for leadership in sustainability efforts.
Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency honors a select group of organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Whether a first time Partner of the Year winner, or a Sustained Excellence winner, these small and large organizations from across the country are leading the energy efficiency movement.
Sears Holdings, an ENERGY STAR partner since 1998, will be honored this year for its long-term commitment to energy efficiency. The Home Depot has also earned a2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in offering the latest innovations in energy efficient products. And Kohl's, another2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award-winner, achieved a milestone in 2015 1,000 ENERGY STAR-certified store locations, totaling more than 85% of Kohl’s stores nationwide. In 2015 alone, more than 70 Kohl’s stores received ENERGY STAR certification.

Kohl’s demonstrates a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations.”

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.
