Kellogg gives retailers products to chew on in 2013

11/15/2012

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg plans to debut new snacks, including cereal bars, crackers, crisps and cookies, in 2013.

"We have such a strong line-up of snack brands, including Pringles, Cheez-it, Special K, Keebler and Nutri-Grain," said Alan Gravely, SVP of marketing and innovation for Kellogg Snacks. "So we are building off these brands with new products that reflect our deep understanding of people's evolving taste preferences and nutrition needs."

Nutri-Grain will offer Nutri-Grain Fruit Crunch, building on the popularity of that established brand crunchy granola bars made with a combination of 20 grams of whole grain and real fruit.

Special K will offer three new snacks for those managing their weight. Blondie Brownie Bites, featuring chocolate chips in vanilla and butterscotch flavors, will be available in 100-calorie pouches. The Special K Pastry Crisps line will offer a new Berry Streusel variety. Each serving has two crisp pastries with filling on the inside and a sweet drizzle on the outside, and is 100 calories. Honey Barbecue cracker chips for those who prefer savory snacks are 110 calories per each 27-chip serving.

Kellogg will also debut FiberPlus Antioxidant Protein Chewy bars, available in Mixed Nut and Peanut. It will also re-launch its Keebler Pitter Patter peanut butter sandwich cookies, and debut the new Chips Deluxe Triple Chocolate, as well as the new peanut butter-filled fudge-dipped bite-size pretzels. Rice Krispies Treats will debut two new flavors: Double Chocolatey Chunk and Buttery Toffee.

Kellogg’s acquired Pringles brand will re-launch Stix in three flavors: Honey Wheat, Pizza and Cheese. It will also debut French Onion Dip flavor crisps and add new Pringles Multigrain flavors, including Sour Cream & Onion and Farmhouse Cheddar, while Cheez-It will launch a new provolone flavor.
