Keeping Your (Lap) Cool

4/14/2008

The advent several years ago of affordable and secure wireless routers was a liberating development for those who use notebook computers at home. No longer restricted to the confines of a home office, bedroom or kitchen table where the desktop computer was located, notebook computer users could access the Internet while seated anywhere within range of the wireless router.

However, that freedom brought with it some unintended consequences, as anyone who has sat with a notebook computer precariously balanced in their lap for more than 15 minutes has experienced the heat they generate. To address the need and create a sales opportunity in the process, Texas-based Creative Essential developed a product called LapDesk Originals (pictured).

As the name implies, the product is placed in users’ laps where microbeads conform to their legs to provide a stable platform and increased comfort, since heat from the notebook is no longer transferred to users’ laps.
