Judge Gives Preliminary OK to Ahold Settlement

Baltimore, Afederal judge gave preliminary approval to a plan by Ahold to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by shareholders burned by a 2003 accounting scandal. The company and shareholders agreed to settle the $1.1 billion claim in November. A final hearing on the plan is set for June.
