Jos. A. Bank income up in Q1

Hampstead, Md. Jos. A. Bank Clothiers reported late Tuesday that net income for the first fiscal quarter ended May 2 was $11.5 million, an increase from $9.8 million for the same period a year ago.

Total sales for the quarter was $161.9 million, an 11.4% increase from $145.4 million for first quarter 2008. Same-store sales jumped 4.3%.
