Jo-Ann 2Q Sales Up 3.7

Hudson, Ohio Jo-Ann Stores Inc. said Thursday its second-quarter sales rose 3.7%, falling short of Wall Street predictions.

The company said its sales for the period ended Aug. 2 totaled $403 million, up from $388.5 million in the year-ago period. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial, on average, expected quarterly revenue of $410 million.

The retailer also said its same-store sales for the six-month period ended Aug. 2 rose 3.9%
