Jeweler strengthens payment security

1/12/2017

Helzberg Diamonds is taking steps to ward off credit card fraud.

The jeweler has implemented NCR Connected Payments to mitigate payment card theft and fraud risks for its customers. The cloud-based payment solution provides data and transmission protection, from PIN pad to payment processor, reducing Helzberg’s exposure to potential payment data theft and fraud.

Besides managing daily operations related to bank card payments across Helzberg's network of stores, the cloud-based solution also makes it easy for the chain to comply with changing payments regulations and imple-ment updates across all locations from a single center.

“We were looking for an electronic payment solution that allowed us to insulate sensitive card data from our enterprise systems, and provided a level of flexibility to implement changes quickly and easily,” said Jeff Rohr, CIO of Helzberg Diamonds. “NCR Connected Payments met those requirements and now the complexity of payments is handled by NCR.”

The solution, which is Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) 3.0 and Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) certified, also employs point-to-point encryption and tokenization. It also provides advanced se-curity monitoring and vulnerability management to grant retailers con-stant visibility into the health of their complete payment system.

As a cloud-based solution, retailers easily comply with evolving payment regulations and standards on an ongoing basis, and NCR manages all up-dates. It can also be configured to a retailer’s specific requirements, and still deliver the latest innovative payment methods without having to ap-ply complex and costly changes to POS and payment infrastructure, NCR said.
