Scottsdale, Ariz. – JDA Software Group will release its next generation of cloud-based omnichannel and supply chain solutions on the public Google Cloud Platform. Through this collaboration, Google will provide a scalable and flexible technology platform via the cloud to support JDA’s future application development and delivery.
Thecollaborationfollows other recent technology innovation efforts by JDA, such as the formation of the JDA Labs dedicated research and development group. Google Cloud Platform initiatives will be developed out of the JDA Labs in Montreal, Canada. JDA’s work with Google also complements JDA’s newly announced Flex platform strategy, which connects JDA’s existing cloud-based solutions and on-premise solutions with next-generation solutions built on Google Cloud Platform.
JDA already uses many Google Cloud Platform products, including Google App Engine and Google Cloud Dataflow. However, deploying new solutions on the Google Cloud Platform will provide the technology to integrate additional data, like social media, weather, and Internet of Things information.
For Google, this partnership provides a significant point of entry into the retail IT market, as JDA is among the leading retail-focused enterprise systems vendors. This is also a major competitive blow against the Amazon Web Services cloud development and hosting platform in the retail space.
“With thousands of successful customers, JDA has clearly established its leadership in delivering world-class retail and supply chain solutions,” Serge Massicotte, executive VP and CIO of JDA, said. “To maintain and expand that leadership, JDA is focused on developing new innovative products and services that will truly change the supply chain landscape. By working with Google — an established innovation leader — JDA will concentrate on working with our customers to co-develop these groundbreaking solutions with Google Cloud Platform.”
“Google and JDA both have a good history of identifying and launching technology innovations that add value for their customers,” Bob Parker, Group Vice President at IDC Industry Insights, said. “With the founding of JDA Labs and other initiatives, JDA has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and development. Now, Google Cloud Platform should ensure that the resulting innovations reach the market faster.”
