11/2/2007

PLANO, Texas JCPenney announced that it has achieved its goal to open 50 new stores in 2007, with the grand openings today of six new off-mall stores across the country.

“We are delighted to make shopping at JCPenney even more convenient for our customers by expanding our presence around the country with new off-mall stores, which complement our traditional mall-based locations,” said Michael Dastugue, JCPenney senior vp and director of property development. “In addition to the style, quality and smart pricing we offer, our customers appreciate our new store features, which make our stores even more fun and easy to shop, and we are incorporating many of these features as we renovate existing stores. Taken together, the improvements we are making as we continue to grow allow us to better serve our customers and enhance the productivity of our store base.”

According to the company, the new stores incorporate a variety of features designed to enhance the shopping experience for customers and improve energy management. Many of these elements are also being incorporated in the companys store remodeling program, which includes 65 remodels completed in 2007 and a total of 300 planned by 2011.
