JCP promotes Brynn Evanson to EVP, HR

PLANO, Texas — J. C. Penney has promoted Brynn Evanson to EVP of human resources. Evanson will lead all HR functions across stores, supply chain and the home office, including team member relations, recruiting, learning and development, compensation and benefits and talent operations. She will also join the company's executive board, reporting to CEO Myron E. Ullman.


"Brynn is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the employee culture at J. C. Penney. With nearly 120,000 team members across the country, her knowledge and expertise will be instrumental to our success as we move the company forward," said Ullman.


Evanson, 44, joined Penney in 2009 and most recently served as VP of compensation, benefits and talent operations. Her career spans more than 20 years in the retail industry, beginning at Marshall Field's, where she advanced through positions in stores, finance, HR and merchandising. She transitioned to Target in 2000 and moved through a series of HR roles, becoming director of executive compensation and retirement plans.
