J. Crew reports Q4 profit on higher revenue

New York City J. Crew Group moved to a profit in the fourth quarter on revenue gains of 19%.

J. Crew earned $40.4 million in the three months that ended Jan. 30, compared with a loss of $13.5 million a year earlier.

Revenue rose 19% in the quarter to $460.6 million from $388 million. Same-store sales rose 17% during the quarter.

For the entire year, J. Crew's profit had more than doubled to $123.4 million from $54.1 million in the year before. Yearly revenue rose 11% to $1.58 billion from $1.43 billion.
