J.C. Penney is going back to the future.
The department store retailer is looking to win back its core customer — middle-aged moms — after courting younger shoppers, according to
Business Insider, which cited a report by
The Wall Street Journal.In the report, Mike Robbins, Penney's executive VP of supply chain, said that the company "took its eye off of its core customer" as it looked to appeal to Millennial shoppers. Robbins is one of the four executives filling the role of CEO as the company searches for a replacement for Ralph Ellison, who left in May to take the top spot at Lowe’s Companies.
