Instacart adds Berkeley Bowl, Costco to store lineup

11/18/2013

Instacart, a service that delivers groceries from multiple local stores within an hour, has expanded its footprint to include independent supermarket Berkeley Bowl as well as Costco to its grocery store lineup just in time for the holiday season.

The company’s Berkeley and Oakland customers can now mix items from Whole Foods, Safeway, Costco and Berkeley Bowl into one order and have them delivered the same day.

"Berkeley Bowl and Costco delivery were the top requests from our East Bay customers. With the holiday season upon us, we are excited to put this in place for them," said Instacart founder and CEO Apoorva Mehta.

Last week, the company expanded its geographic coverage in the San Francisco Bay Area, adding three cities in the South Bay: Los Altos, Sunnyvale and most of Redwood City. It also services San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton and Mountain View. Click here to view Instacart's service area maps.

Instacart is the only service that can deliver groceries from multiple local stores within an hour by using a crowd-sourced model of personal shoppers.
