Innovation reigns at Sial

MONTREAL Innovation is central to Sial Montreal, currently underway at the Palais des congres de Montreal. For example, What a Pizza! is a company that gives retailers a pizza press and oven so they can make their own pies fresh, in front of customers in five minutes. The company works with retail and foodservice accounts in Canada and has just begun operating in the United States through foodservice accounts thus far.

Another innovative company, O Sole Mio, operating out of Boisbriand, Quebec, offers an entire range of Italian functional food products include the new Via Bene line, which offers whole grains and Omega-3 fatty acids in its items.

Desserts & Passion was nominated for an innovation award for eliminating peanuts and nuts from its product line and coming up with a striking line of packaging. While it didn’t win the award, it’s about to get something better. It’s line of eclair, cream puffs and cakes, often as private labels, are already in supermarket and warehouse clubs in the United States and Canada, as well as Wal-Mart Canada and Wal-Mart U.S. is getting set to expand into Wal-Mart’s Mexican division as well.
