Ingles Market to Slow Store Expansion Plans
Ashville, N.C. Regional grocery chain Ingles Markets plans to cut back on its store expansion plans for this year, according to a report on Ashville’s www.Citizen-Times.com.
The company already has several projects in the works to build new stores or renovate or remodel existing ones and won't abandon those, the report said. However, the chain plans to slow spending on new projects until it becomes clearer where the economy is headed.
Ingles opened 12 new, replacement or remodeled stores during the fiscal year that ended in late Sept. 2008 and will bring the same number on line during the 2009 fiscal year, the report said.
