IndoorAtlas introduces indoor mapping app for iOS
Mountain View, Calif. -- IndoorAtlas Is releasing an indoor mapping application for the Apple iOS mobile operating system and licensing it to retailers. The software-only solution can provide accuracy within six feet inside any building without additional hardware. I
The app can be used to create and magnetically map any building and includes features such as floor plan upload from photo or image file, sensor data collection and map generation, and indoor positioning. The IndoorAtlas proprietary technology uses geomagnetic fields to map and pinpoint indoor locations, using the compass chip built into smartphones so it doesn’t require external hardware such as Bluetooth beacons or Wi-Fi. The IndoorAtlas API and tools are available to app developers who can now build long-awaited indoor positioning features to their iOS apps.
“IndoorAtlas’ core solution bypasses Wi-Fi, Bluetooth beacons, and GPS by using geomagnetic fields,” said Professor Janne Haverinen, CEO and founder, IndoorAtlas. “Our indoor positioning platform opens up new possibilities for in-store and in-mall mapping, and new mobile apps that support location-based point-of-sale and marketing.”
